The Bridesmaids

Matron of Honor:

Julie Fehl, Sister

Being 6 years older than me, Julie was always way cooler. I was pretty honored as a child when she would take the time to play with me. But luckily Julie and I have gotten much closer as adults. She and Mike (her husband/our brother-in-law) moved to Pittsburgh in 2010, which allowed us a lot more time to see each other. Together, Shawn and I, with Julie and Mike have taken some breathtaking vacations...notably, Punxsutawney for Groundhog’s Day, and Coney Island for the Nathan’s hot dog eating contest. She is an amazing mother to the cutest 2-year old around (Garrett!). She and Mike have settled in Houston (for now, at least!)

Matron of Honor:

Maureen Potter, Sister

Maureen is closer in age (3 years) so unfortunately she was the one stuck playing (usually playing school, in non-school hours) with me. She let me borrow clothes, taught me how to pluck my eyebrows, and bought me alcohol for the first time (when I was 21 of course). Her and her husband/our brother-in-law, Justin, were married in gorgeous Vail, Colorado, this past June. Maureen and Justin live in Denver - and while she is either there or traveling for work constantly, she is amazing at email and text so I still get to ‘talk’ to her on an almost-daily basis

Lauren Kleissas,

Friend

I was a lucky Freshman to be assigned Lauren as my roommate when I transferred to Penn State for second semester freshman year. Since then, Lauren and I have lived together a collective 6+ years!! (between Penn State and Alexandria). And she had me laughing that entire  time. Luckily she still lives locally (in DC) so I am able to often benefit from her hilarious (sometimes odd) sense of humor. Lauren met her husband (Dean) through Shawn (see below) - and we are fortunate to be able to hang out with the two of them several times a month.

Mary Stotler,

Friend

Mary’s family moved into our Wexford, PA neighborhood in first grade, and we’ve been friends ever since - even though we went to different schools throughout. No matter how long it’s been, Mary and I can talk like we haven’t missed a beat. Over more than twenty years of friendship, we’ve only fought once (over some grammar in the letter we were faxing to ABC execs about the cancellation of Clueless the tv show). Mary’s sister, Maggie, is also 3 years older, so the four of us would often hang out (we dubbed ourselves the Four Feasters) and camp in the fort we built in Stotler’s back yard.

The Groomsmen

best italian man;

Ben Famoso, Friend

Ben and I were high school friends turned college roommates turned Eat N Park aficionados. Whether it was our shared love for shrimp, Madden football, The Boss, or Christmas, our friendship has grown and grown ever since we first met in 8th grade. Ben taught me everything I know about grilling spaghetti and having buzzcuts. Had life gone in a different direction, this could very well be our wedding. When playing Double Dash, his characters of choice are always  Diddy Kong and Toadette.

best greek man:

Dean Kleissas, Friend

Dean and I were high school rockstars, college pen pals, and roommates throughout much of our 20s. Throughout the years, Dean has tried to teach me a lot about science and I’ve tried to teach him a lot about Tom Hanks, but neither really stuck. Together though, we have learned a lot about Chatroulette, winning Halloween, and tricking lovely roommates into marrying us. We still hang out as much as time allows, and constantly find new ways to relive our glory years. When playing Double Dash, his characters of choice are always Baby Luigi and Baby Bowser.

Ryan Cain,

Friend/corduroy king

Ryan and I have been friends longer than I’ve known any of the other groomsmen. We met in jazz band and quickly formed a bond that would repeatedly set us on a course for disaster. His basement was my second home in high school. It’s where I learned how to play pool, how to drink Cott Ginger Ale, and how to properly use duct tape. I also learned a lot about life, because Ryan had the internet before anyone else I knew. From OOTSA, to Moon Flight, to Atherton’s grave, to here, it’s been a wonderful ride. When playing Double Dash, his characters of choice are always Baby Mario and Red Koopa.

Mike stetor,

Friend/marty

Mike is the most recent addition to this group of lunatics I’m calling my groomsmen, but he adapted quickly and gracefully. Mike has taught me a lot about river otters, Sparks Energy Drink, and Third Eye Blind. Together, “Jumper” has saved us countless times. We probably spent too many hours at the Saloon and at the Den, but it resulted in a great friendship. Long live Lobster Man. When playing Double Dash, his characters of choice are always Toad and Green Koopa.

The ring Bearer

Garrett Fehl, nephew

Garrett is a fan of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Sheriff Callie, singing, playing the drums and Uncle Shawn’s ukulele, puzzles, avocados, and hanging with his dog, Jake. I’m not sure how we would survive without photos, videos and Facetime with G, which make us smile constantly.
